The 2018 SILA Education Conference officially kicked off on Sunday, September 30, 2018 with the Exhibitor Fair & Welcome Reception. The receptionincluded 37 vendor booths displaying products and services to new and seasoned conference attendees. The VUE Software booth saw a lot of traffic and the VUE team was excited to chat with all the folks that stopped by. Existing clients stopped to say hello or to catch up on what’s new at VUE.Other visitors were familiar with the VUE name and wanted to know more and while some, currently facing issues with their producer licensing or contracting and appointment systems, were interested in learning how our insurance distribution software can create processing efficiencies and save them time and money.
There were nearly 700 members in attendance who were able to benefit from informative sessions, regulatory updates, vendor exhibitor fair, professional development programs, and of course, networking.
The Regulatory Exchange sessions provided regulatory responses to pain points in the industry that can be changed for better efficiency and processing. The regulators also responded to hot topic questions gathered from the industry prior to the conference.
The afternoon Around the Country sessions included all participating regulators, regulatory system vendors, exam providers and some exhibitors. This informal session was designed to meet regulators and service providers and address any specific issues that affect members’ operations. I took advantage of this great opportunity to meet many state regulators and obtain their contact information. I also asked for some guidance regarding best practices and who to call when I have a specific question or need clarification regarding a state rule or regulation.
It was exciting to attend the conference as part of the VUE Software team and participate as a vendor. I look forward to attending SILA’s 30th National Education Conference next year at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina in San Diego, California on September 15-18, 2019.
